adoptee advocacy mission
I’m dedicated to shine a light on our individual adoptee stories
and raise more awareness of the complexity of adoption and it’s impact on adoptees’ emotional and mental health.
As a Korean-German Adoptee, I struggled to navigate the in-between spaces of our identities and define what Home and Belonging meant to me—I limited the meaning of belonging to cultural belonging.
I was 18 years old when I looked into the mirror and started to question the person I was confronted with. Since then, I have been awakening to my own color, inner world, and trauma of separation from my origin. Who am I, and who do I actually want to be? — I had been in denial of how much my adoptee self was limiting me in my authentic expression.
When I liberated myself from cultural norms and social expectations, I explored multiple facets that shape who I truly am. My self-discovery journey allowed me to connect with fellow adoptees, understand and manage my emotional complexity, and release my limiting beliefs on adoption and myself. I turned my struggles into strengths and an opportunity to learn, grow and evolve—to show up in life as a better version of myself and follow my true calling in helping others on their journey.
I believe every Adoptee can embrace their story with curiosity, compassion, and courage—and discover True Belonging within. Know that you are not alone in this!
Learning about other adoptee’s stories, and the severe problems within the adoption system, where corruption, child trafficking, and document fabrication is a reality, made me question my own story and opened my eyes to the complexity of adoption also on a societal and economic level.
Raising awareness on the nuance and many shades of adoptions is a big part of my adoptee advocacy work.
